Nature Reserve Slavkovský les
The town of Bečov is situated on the territory of the nature Reserve of Slavkovský les which was established on 3rd May 1974. This reserve
covers an area of more than 600 square kilometers and its territory contains 21 preserved scenic areas. The larges grounds of this territory
are drained by the Teplá river; three quarters are covered with fir woodlands. The reason for protection are especially the springs of
mineral waters, as well as a number of well-preserved
landscape types, rock formations (granite logan-stones), basalt formations, serpentine formations and the like),
a number of well-preserved natural groupings as well as individual rare wood species and herbs. The Teplá river reaches Bečov mainly in original unregulated
meanders with romantic meadows in deep cutting.
The "Gallows Hill" Heritage
The "Gallows Hill" Heritage Trail is devoted to the rituals connected with executing the death penalty in the early period of modern times (16th - 18th centuries). It is based on the preserved and archaeologically surveyed remains of a historic gallows and, partially, on the original path leading to that gallows.
The Trail is long 1km and is beginning direct from town-hall.
